Farmworker health

California’s 1 million farmworkers face increased risk of diabetes, as well as respiratory diseases related to poor air quality. In the current California Agriculture, scientists from the UC Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety review the impact of environmental factors such as pesticide exposure on diabetes rates, and report potential respiratory health effects of breathing air laden with particulate matter.
